Message From Principal Murphy

Welcome to Academy of St. Benedict the African

The Academy of St Benedict serves families from around the City of Chicago, caring for

and providing an excellent education for their pre-Kindergarten through 8 th  grade students.  We serve working families from 6:15am until 6:15pm, combining before-school care, a rigorous academic program that helps students succeed and go into quality high schools, and an activity-rich after-school program.

Our school’s most defining characteristics are the strong sense of love and care we have

for our students, combined with a strong commitment to helping students advance – be that as a graduate poised to succeed in a quality high school, or as an early childhood student moving onto Kindergarten and First Grade as an accomplished reader.

As Principal, my greatest joy is to receive the hug of a student excited about learning and being in our school. I’m blessed that this happens frequently, and that our committed staff and benefactors bring their expertise and gifts to our students and their families.  I know every student by name and build a personal relationship with each child. When you come to visit our school, you’ll see the joy and learning going on.  You’ll see teachers working with individual students, and students being kind and respectful to each other. You’ll also see the latest technology being used to help students learn faster and more successfully. You’ll hear our students joyfully singing and dancing, or playing basketball. I encourage you to visit. Our students race in the door every day! For interested families, I look forward to building a relationship with you and working together for your children to join our school community.

Please contact us at 773-776- 3316 or visit our admissions page for information about applying to the school.
