Tuition & Scholarships

The Academy of St. Benedict is a tuition-based private Catholic school. Tuition payments ensure that we can continue to provide the best possible educational environment for your child by paying teachers' salaries, buying new books/supplies and covering general operating expenses.

The Academy of St. Benedict has scholarships available for families who qualify, thanks to the Archdiocese of Chicago, Big Shoulders Fund, and other supportive donors. We are committed to making our educational program available to families of varied economic backgrounds. We approach tuition on an individual basis and work with each family to determine financial aid awards.

Awards are given to students in Pre-K through 8th grade and are determined on basis of need and the availability of funds. We want to do everything possible to make your dream of a Catholic education a reality for your family.

Thank you for choosing
Academy of St. Benedict the African

We know that choosing the right school for your child is a big decision, and we’d love to help!
Our families choose to enroll their children at our school for many reasons, including:
  • Our graduates are admitted to selective magnet and private high schools, often earning scholarships.

  • We serve busy working families from 6:15am until 6:15pm.

  • We utilize technology to enhance our students’ learning and growth.

  • Our teachers strive to meet the individual needs of each student.

  • Our academic program includes Music, Dance, and PE. Sports, Art, Dance, and Choir are a part of our after school program!

  • We work with families to make this investment affordable.

The Academy accepts students, as space is available. Catholic students are given first consideration. The decision for admission or readmission of a student rests with the administration.

Order of admission:

  1. Children of registered and participating St. Benedict the African Church parishioners seeking enrollment for the first time.

  2. Brothers and sisters of students currently enrolled in any Catholic school.

  3. Students who are residents of the Englewood Community.

  4. Applicants whose residence is outside of the Englewood Community when space is available.

  5. The school complies with applicable state and federal laws prohibiting discrimination and all applicable Illinois school code including, but not limited to:

  • The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 (29 USC 621 et seq.)

  • Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (42 USC 2000e et seq.)

  • Applicable sections of the Illinois School Code [105 ILCS 5]

  • Relevant case law including Plyler v. Doe, 457 U.S. 202, 102 S.Ct. 2382 (1982)

  • 23 ILL. Admin. Code Part 425

All interested families are invited to come in for a private tour of the school and meet our administration. It is important that our principal, Mrs. Farrand, meets with your family to get to know you and your child.

Tours and meetings typically take 40 minutes, but we are happy to accommodate your schedule.
